HT Imam: AL to win for the third time in a row

Awami League Election Steering Committee’s co-chairman and political adviser to the prime minister, HT Imam said on Saturday that the Awami League is set to win the elections today with a large margin for a third time in a row.

Speaking at a at a press briefing at the party’s central office he said: “Several polls and international news outlets have predicted that Awami League is going to win again.”

He also praised the Election Commission (EC) and stressed on the body’s impartiality. “The EC is more capable of organizing a fair, credible, and participatory election.”

Imam alleged that 6,585 election observers from nine organizations will make biased reports to make the election look questionable. 

At the press conference, the senior Awami League leader also alleged that the BNP will try to create havoc at polling stations and raise questions about the election with fake ballot papers.  

He also dubbed the Jatiya Oikyo Front's ballot stuffing allegation as "a joke," saying: "The EC is an independent body and only the designated people can check ballot boxes."

Imam also said, today’s election would be important for the country and urged people to vote for the Awami League that is seeking a third consecutive term in office.
