December 30 declared general holiday

The government has declared December 30 as a general holiday across Bangladesh so that the 11th parliamentary election can take place smoothly on that day.

The Ministry of Public Administration (MOPA) issued a notification in this regard as per the request of the Election Commission on Thursday, reports UNB.

The holiday has been announced so that all voters working in government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices, institutions, organizations and educational institutions located in the voting areas can cast their votes easily.

The holiday will also help those who will be engaged in the election process to perform their duties properly.

On December 18, the Election Commission instructed MOPA to declare December 30 a general holiday for the 11th parliamentary election.

A letter signed by the Commission's Joint Secretary Farhad Ahmmed Khan was sent to the public administration secretary on Tuesday in this regard.
