Oikya Front to kick off election campaign from Sylhet on Wednesday

Jatiya Oikya Front, led by Dr Kamal Hossain, will kick off its election campaign from Sylhet on Wednesday.

BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan made the announcement at a press conference after a joint meeting of BNP and Oikya Front leaders at the BNP's headquarters in Naya Paltan on Tuesday.

"We will start our election campaign by offering fateha at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) and Shah Paran (R) on Wednesday," he said.

Nazrul said Dr Kamal Hossain, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD)President Abdur Rob, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Kader Siddique and some other leaders of their alliance are expected to go to Sylhet to launch the electioneering.

After offering fateha at the two shrines, he said the alliance leaders will organize the election campaign in the Sylhet city.

Candidates of the alliance informally launched campaign on Monday after election symbol was distributedby the Election Commission, he said.

BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas, Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury and General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu, JSD Joint General Secretary Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury, among others, joined the meeting held with Nazrul Islam Khan in the chair.
