Awami League’s Jessore district unit Secretary Shaheen Chaklader’s nomination papers, to contest the upcoming 11th general election for Jessore 3 constituency, have been rejected.
Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md Abdul Awal rejected the candidacy, on Sunday, because the Awami League leader – who wanted to contest independently – did not submit the necessary documents along with his nomination papers.
The ruling party selected incumbent MP Kazi Nabil Ahmed as its nominee for the constituency.

Awami League’s current MP Monirul Islam, for the Jessore 2 constituency, was denied a nomination and is running as an independent candidate. He was replaced by Maj Gen (Retd) Nasir Uddin.
Nomination papers are being scrutinized on Sunday.
The nomination papers of 13 aspirants, for four of the district’s six constituencies, were rejected on Sunday.
The decision on the candidacies of six nominees has been put on hold.
A total of 66 candidates filed nomination papers to contest for six constituencies.
