Quader: BNP resorting to falsehood to foil polls

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that BNP is resorting to falsehood to foil the upcoming general election sensing their sure defeat in it.

At a press briefing on Friday, he urged the BNP to shun their “ill political motives”to help democracy flourishing in the country, reports BSS.

Saying Awami League wanted the polls to be held in free, fair and credible manner, Quader said: “We expect that all political parties will participate in the election.”

“We are following the electoral of code of conduct for a peaceful and acceptable election. All political parties should extend their cooperation to the Election Commission for the same reason,” addedQuader, who is also the road transport and bridges minister.

“We do not want to believe in any numerical prediction on getting seats in the polls. The people will decide it,” he told the press briefing held at the ruling party chief’s political office at Dhanmondi, Dhaka.

He said before the 2008 electionpolls, the BNP had predicted that Awami League would just get 30 seats, but at the end BNP itself had won only in 29 seats in that election.

The 11th general election is scheduled to be held on December 30.
