BNP demands transfer of Barisal city officials

BNP has demanded the transfer of the administrative officials who conducted the Barisal City Corporation election back in July, alleging that they would not ensure fair polling in the upcoming general election.

Speaking during a press conference in the party’s district unit office on Thursday, BNP Joint General Secretary Mojibur Rahman Sarwar said: “The officials who were in charge of conducting the Barisal city polls did not discharge their duties in a fair manner. Therefore, having the same officials in charge of holding the general election raises concerns.”

Mojibur Rahman was in Barisal addressing an attack on BNP leaders and activists in Barisal 4 constituency (Hizla-Mehendiganj).

On Wednesday, BNP leader Mezbah Uddin Forhad and his activists were allegedly assaulted under the order of Awami League MP in Barisal 4 Pankaj Debnath after submitting his nomination papers for the constituency.

The 11th general election is scheduled to be held on December 30.
