Ganasanghati Andolon leaders to contest three seats

Ganasanghati Andolon (People’s Solidarity Movement) members will compete in three constituencies in the 11th general election.

Party members made the statement to journalists at a press briefing held at their Kathalbagan office on Tuesday.

Since the platform has not yet been registered with the Election Commission because of legal complications, Ganasanghati members will contest the polls as independent candidates and under the Bangladesher Biplobi Workers Party banner.

The three seats are in Dhaka, Chittagong, and Pabna, said Ganasanghati Andolon chief coordinator Zonayed Saki at a press briefing in Dhaka.

Among the candidates, Zonayed Saki will run for office in the Dhaka 12 constituency as an independent candidate; while Ganasanghati central leader Julhasnain Babu contests Pabna 1, and Hasan Maruf Rumi attempts to win Chittagong 10 – both under the Biplobi Workers Party.

When is the election?

The 11th general election is scheduled for December 30.

Candidates will have to file their nomination papers by November 28. The deadline to withdraw candidacy is December 9.

The Election Commission will scrutinize nomination papers on December 2.
