Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has collected two nomination forms for party President Sheikh Hasina for the upcoming 11th general election.
With the purchase, he inaugurated the sale of the party’s nomination papers at the party chief’s Dhanmondi political office around 10am on Friday, reports BSS.
One of the nomination forms Quader bought on behalf of Hasina is for Gopalganj 3 constituency. He also collected another nomination form for the party chief.
Quader also bought nomination form for Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, who is now abroad.
The next national election is scheduled for December 23.
The Awami League has opened eight booths for selling nomination papers for candidates of the eight divisions. The process is being supervised by the party’s joint secretaries and organizing secretaries.
Sources said the ruling party has fixed the price of each nomination paper at Tk30,000.
A large number of the party’s leaders and activists crowded in and around the party office since morning to collect nomination papers.
