The Election Commission has determined the date of the 11th general election at the EC's 39th extended meeting at Agargaon.
The meeting took place at 11am on Thursday. All election commissioners, including the Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed and Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, were present at the meeting.
Following the meetingthe CEC's speech was recorded, in his chambers, for about an hour and a half.
Asked by journalists about how the meeting went while he was leaving, election commissioner Brigadier General (retd) Shahadat Hussain replied: “Everything is okay, just wait."
Some Election Commission officials said the CEC said the meeting was conducted with the aim of holding the election on December 20, but some others said the date may change.
The recording of the CEC’s speech, which includes the announcement of the election schedule, will be aired on Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar at 7pm Thursday.
