Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh President and Jukta Front Chief AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, has written to President Abdul Hamid for talks regarding the upcoming general election.
The party’s Secretary General Maj (Retd) Abdul Mannan also wrote a letter to Chief Election Commission KM Nurul Huda to meet with him for a dialogue.
Bikalpa Dhara’s Organizing Secretary Barrister Omar Faruk delivered both letters to the Bangabhaban and the Election Commission Bhaban on Tuesday.
Badruddoza’s Press Secretary Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter.
In his letter to the president, B Chowdhury said: “Jukta Front leaders are eager to hold talks with you about some major issues.”
“According to the Constitution, the Election Commission is the main conductor of the election. The president has the authority over the commission during the election.
“So we want to discuss the responsibilities of the commission, with you, for a free and fair election process.”
B Chowdhury urged the president to set the date for the meeting by Wednesday since time is short.
Meanwhile, in the letter, Bikalpa Dhara urged the chief election commissioner to hold a dialogue regarding the upcoming election by Friday.
