Second time Dhaka University admission seekers, who have been demonstrating for over two months, yesterday demanded a review on the university’s decision which denies the failed DU aspirants a second chance at the entry tests in 2015-16 sessions.
A group of admission seekers pressed home for their demand while addressing a demonstration rally in front of Raju Memorial sculpture near TSC on DU campus around 2pm.
The admission seekers also demanded punishment for the policemen who attacked on them and criticised higher authority for not taking any measures against the accused officers.
Riajul Islam, an HSC student of University Laboratory School and College, said they would sit with DU Vice-Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique on December 21 to present their argument to reconsider the second time option in DU admission tests.
“There is no logic to ignore second time candidates in DU admission tests, we will request the DU VC so that he could realise our demand” he added.
Regarding the attacks on admission seekers rally on December 7, Riajul, also a spokesperson of admission seekers, demanded proper investigation and punishment of the law enforcers who brutally attacked them.
Before staging the rally, the protesters brought out a demonstration procession towards the VC’s residence and staged demonstration for a while.
The demonstrations have been going on since Dhaka University on October 14 decided to allow only freshly passed HSC graduates to sit for entry tests, closing shutters on any second timers.
