State University of Bangladesh celebrates 3rd convocation

State University of Bangladesh (SUB) celebrated its third convocation on Monday by conferring degrees to the graduating students of 10 departments, both at undergraduate and graduate levels.

Four students were awarded with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal while six received the Vice Chancellor’s Award.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was the chief guest while Chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor AK Azad Chowdhury attended as the convocation speaker.

Nurul Islam Nahid said: “Graduating opens the door to many opportunities and challenges. Graduates must embrace these challenges. Their willingness to struggle will lead to successful careers.”

Convocation speaker Dr AK Azad Chowdhury said: “Irrespective of changes in methods of teaching and course curriculums, there is something very fundamental at the core of teaching.

“This includes inquisitiveness, insatiable thirst for knowledge, relentless efforts to understand and internalise that knowledge, self-confidence and interest in the subject of study.”

Registrar of SUB, Professor AYM Ekram-ud-Daulah, conducted the ceremony.

Addressing the graduates, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury said: “I consider this certificate a birthmark that links you to the alma mater as you embark on careers that I am sure will take you to newer heights.”
