A total of 91.4% of the examinees passed this year's SSC and equivalent examination under the education board, marking a 3.36 percent rise than of the previous year, where 10, 884 students achieved GPA 5.

Out of 20 best schools ranked by the education board, Chittagong Collegiate School secured first position, Bangladesh Mohila Samity Girls High School and College in second and Dr Khastagir Government Girls High School secured the third position.

The pass rate of male students was at 92.33% while female were at 90.58%.

Dr Pizus Dutta, exam controller of Secondary and High Secondary Education Board in Chittagong, disclosed the figures while talking to the media at his office yesterday.

Saying this year’s SSC results had broken all previous records, he also said the difference between students’ performances in the city and remote areas also went down significantly.

A total 92,123 SSC candidates from 963 schools under the education board took part in the examination, where 276 candidates were absent and 31 were expelled.

A total 91 schools achieved a full pass rate, while no school was found without a single successful candidate.

Dr Pizus suggested to the students to shift to vocational education in a bid to boost the sector as an alternative route to flourish jobs, like most developed countries.

Meanwhile, Suman Barua, college inspector of Secondary and High Secondary Education Board in Chittagong, said the number of seats in 218 colleges under the education board will be able to cover the successful students and urged students and guardians not worry in this regard.
