Students of Jahangirnagar University have continued their protest for the second consecutive day to press for demands, including withdrawal of a case against them.
A number of students gathered in front of the administration building on Tuesday morning and started a sit-in protest like the previous day when they prevented the vice-chancellor from entering her office.
The university's teachers' association held several meetings with the protesters on Monday but failed to hammer out a solution.

Representatives of the students met the teachers at night where the teachers' association proposed calling off the demonstration and hold talks with the administration on August 3.
The students declined to end their protests before their demands were met.
Jahangirnagar students blocked the Dhaka-Aricha Highway on May 27, a day after two of the university's students were killed in a road accident, demanding compensation for the victims' families and making the roads safer.
Police fired rubber bullets and used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, leaving a number of students injured. The agitated students vandalised the VC's residence that evening. Several teachers claimed the students had harassed them too.

The university accused more than 50 students of vandalism and harassing teachers in a case filed that night. Forty-two students were initially arrested but were later released on bail.
Several students started a fast unto death on July 15 demanding withdrawal of the case. They called off the hunger strike on July 17 after the university promised to meet their demand.
The students gave the university authorities a week's time. They started demonstrating again on Monday as the university apparently did nothing to fulfil its promise.
