Yes, people still value ethics in Bangladesh as housemaid Mukta shows that she wants her son to be a man of value and honour.
Jesmin Begum Mukta, who works in a household to earn her bread, gave her son a book of Aeshop’s fables for his seventh birthday.
“A book is the greatest gift to be given to anyone,” Mukta said. “I want my son to grow up to be a good human being.”
She said to have spent two frantic days in failed attempt to search for the book.
“I gave her my book against her will so that she does not run late for the birthday,” Mukta’s employer Sheikh Jinat Mahmid said.
Mohammad Fahim, a grade two student, was rather ecstatic on receiving the book and will hopefully grow up to be the man as desired by his mother.
