Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) isset to establish a city university on no loss no profit basis aiming at familiarizing the Rajshahi metropolis as an educational city.
The RCC authorities disclosed the matter while addressing a review meeting on the proposed university at the City Bhabanon Saturday, reports BSS.
City Mayor and Chairman of the City University Trustee Board Mosaddeque Hossain Bulbul chaired the meeting attended by Vice-chancellor, Prof Kayesh Uddin and others concerned.
Mayor Bulbul said academic and administrative activities of the university will begin at the RCC's under-construction Swapnachura building. Within the next seven years, the university will be shifted to its own campus for which the site has already been earmarked.
Poor and meritorious students will get privileges while getting admission into the university, he said.
He stated that some 12 need-based departments under six faculties will be opened at preliminary stage.
