PSC and Ebtedayee exams begin

Primary School Certificate and mardasa equivalent Ebtedayee final Examinations for fifth graders began throughout the country Wednesday morning.

The examinations began throughout the country at 11am, Shyamal Kanti Ghosh, director-general for the Directorate of Primary Education, said in the morning.

About 2,950,000 students were expected to sit for the examinations at 6,574 centres throughout the country at 11am.

The test duration has been extended by half-an-hour to the traditional two-hour for the creative section. But students with physical and mental disabilities will be allowed 20 extra minutes as usual.

Some 1,210,000 boys and 1,420,000 girls have enrolled for the school examinations while about 157,227 boys and 157,560 girls have registered for the madrasa examinations this year.

The first exam on Wednesday was mathematics for both education boards.

Over 750 examinees are attending the examinations from abroad: Jeddah, Riyadh, Tripoli, Abu Dhabi and Oman.
