Students of the University of Science and Technology, Chittagong (USTC) demonstrated on Thursday morning demanding elections for the vice-chancellor (VC) under the president.
They said they no longer want to have an acting VC. In protest they locked the teachers and pro-VC inside the building.
Professor Ishaq Ahmed, acting pro-VC of USTC, sat with the students on the Khulshi campus at around 11:30am to discuss the possibilities for change. He said he will soon announce the change, a statement he has given in the past, which angered the students even more. The meeting went on for one and a half hours.
The students have been pressing for two months to have an elected VC, pro-VC and Treasurer for USTC under the president.
