Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said 17 years of “playing” with the education system had broken the backbone of the nation.
He made the remark at a reception for meritorious Secondary School Certificate (SSC) students at Keraniganj Women’s Degree College in Dhaka on Saturday.
Rizvi said the “fascist Awami League” had kept Bangladesh in such a state that it could not compete globally in technological development.
He said the BNP had focused on free education as part of its efforts to empower women.
The prime minister’s adviser said the nation could not progress without incentives in education. Therefore, the current government is evaluating merit to make the country’s leading educational institutions more relevant to current needs.
Dhaka District BNP General Secretary and reserved-seat MP Nipun Roy Chowdhury chaired the program.
