Online applications for undergraduate admission at the University of Dhaka for the 2026–2027 academic session will open at 12pm on November 11 and close at 11:59pm on November 25.
The decisions were finalized on Sunday, at a meeting of the General Admission Committee held at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban auditorium. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam chaired the meeting.
Also present were Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane, Treasurer Professor Dr. M. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the convener of the Online Admission Committee, deans of various faculties, provosts of the residential halls, chairs of academic departments, directors of institutes, and other concerned officials.
Undergraduate admission tests for 2026–2027 will be held under five units: the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit, the Science Unit, the Business Studies Unit, the Fine Arts Unit, and the IBA Unit.

Except for the IBA Unit, all admission tests will run from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. The IBA Unit test will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.
Tests for three units — Arts, Law and Social Sciences; Science; and Business Studies — will be held not only in Dhaka but also in eight divisional cities, at Rajshahi University, Chittagong University, Barisal University, Khulna University, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Bangladesh Agricultural University in Mymensingh, and Begum Rokeya University. The Fine Arts and IBA units will be tested in Dhaka only.
For every unit except Fine Arts and IBA, the test will carry 60 marks for MCQs and 40 for the written portion. In the Fine Arts Unit, MCQs will be worth 40 marks and the drawing test 60 marks. The IBA Unit will carry 70 marks for MCQs and 30 for a descriptive test.
Time allotted
Fine Arts Unit — 30 minutes for MCQs, 60 minutes for drawing/written
IBA Unit — 90 minutes for MCQs, 30 minutes for the descriptive test
All other units — 45 minutes for MCQs, 45 minutes for the written portion
Candidates will be evaluated out of 120 marks in total — 100 from the admission test itself, and 20 based on SSC/equivalent and HSC/equivalent results.
Eligibility
Applicants must have passed their SSC or equivalent examination between 2021 and 2024, and their HSC or equivalent examination in 2026.
Science Unit: Combined GPA (including the 4th subject) in SSC and HSC or equivalent must be at least 8, with a minimum of 3.5 in each separately. Students from the Humanities and Business Studies streams under the HSC and Madrasah boards may also apply, provided their combined GPA is at least 7.5, with a minimum of 3.0 in each separately.
Arts, Law and Social Sciences Unit: Combined GPA must be at least 7.5, with a minimum of 3.0 in each separately. Students from the Science and Business Studies streams under the HSC and Madrasah boards may also apply — for Science-stream applicants, the combined GPA must be at least 8.0, with a minimum of 3.5 in each separately; for Business Studies-stream applicants, at least 7.5 combined, with a minimum of 3.0 in each separately.
Business Studies Unit: Combined GPA must be at least 7.5, with a minimum of 3.0 in each separately. Students from the Science and Humanities streams under the HSC and Madrasah boards may also apply — for Science-stream applicants, the combined GPA must be at least 8.0, with a minimum of 3.5 in each separately; for Humanities-stream applicants, at least 7.5 combined, with a minimum of 3.0 in each separately.
Fine Arts Unit: Combined GPA must be at least 6.5, with a minimum of 3.0 in each separately.
Other decisions
The meeting also decided that, for the Science Unit, a separate question paper will be set for English-medium students, aligned with their curriculum.
Classes for the 2026–2027 undergraduate session are set to begin on March 28, 2027.
