'Students to receive school uniforms, jute bags from July'

Students will begin receiving school uniforms and jute bags from July under a government initiative, Prime Minister’s adviser and Office spokesperson Mahdi Amin has said.

He made the announcement at the Secretariat on Wednesday morning.

Mahdi Amin said the program will initially be launched on a pilot basis, starting with first-grade students. Two schools in each upazila will be selected by the local administration to receive the items.

The government aims to distribute uniforms and bags to at least 100,000 students in the first month, he added.

He also said locally produced items will be supplied to marginal areas in phases through a coordinated effort involving three ministries, with a focus on ensuring fairness and equity.

Meanwhile, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam said similar uniforms will be provided across all primary schools, although designs will differ for boys and girls.
