A group of students had demanded a one-month postponement of the upcoming Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations, scheduled to commence on April 10.
They have also announced plans to stage protests to press for their demand.
However, education board officials consider this demand entirely unreasonable.
The board has affirmed that there is no possibility of delaying the SSC examinations, which will be held as per the previously announced schedule.
Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider, convener of the Inter-Education Board Examination Controllers’ Committee and Controller of Examinations at the Dhaka Board, conveyed this information to the media on Thursday.
He said: “All preparations for the examinations have been completed. The distribution of necessary materials to all examination centers is in its final stage. At this point, there is no scope for postponing the examinations. Any such movement is illogical.”
Professor Haider further mentioned: “According to our information, the vast majority of students are in favor of sitting for the exams as scheduled. Certain individuals, masquerading as students, are conspiring on Facebook to delay the exams and are spreading rumors. Candidates and their guardians should not be influenced by such misinformation and should focus on their preparations.”
Notably, as per the schedules published by the education boards, the SSC, Dakhil and SSC (Vocational) examinations will commence on April 10, with a total of 1,928,281 candidates expected to participate.
The written (theoretical) examinations under the nine general education boards will conclude on May 13, while the Dakhil examinations under the Madrasa Board will end on May 15.
Practical examinations will then be conducted from May 22 onward.
