IUB recognizes students’ achievements at Academic Awards Ceremony 2024

The Academic Awards Ceremony 2024 of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) was held on December 23, 2024, at the IUB Auditorium.

The event recognized students for their exceptional academic achievements in the different honour lists categories. 

Didar A Husain, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, IUB, was the Guest of Honour, while Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider, Treasurer, chaired the ceremony.

The program was coordinated by the Registrar’s Office.

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests, including the newly appointed Vice Chancellor Prof M Tamim, Deans and Heads of the Schools, members of the Board of Trustees, IUB faculty and administration, and invited guests.

IUB’s Honour Lists recognize students who consistently excel academically, with categories including the Dean’s List, Dean’s Merit List, Dean’s Honour List, Vice Chancellor’s List, and Vice Chancellor’s Honour List.

For the Academic Year 2023, 1,456 students were recognized, with 2,666 certificates issued in total.

Of these, 61.33% were female awardees.

The awards were presented to students with CGPAs of 3.50 or higher over individual semesters and consecutive academic terms.

Top performers were further recognized with book awards and cash incentives.

The ceremony began with remarks from Md Anwarul Islam, PhD, Registrar, followed by an address from Khandker Md Iftekhar Haider, Treasurer, who introduced the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Prof M Tamim. 

In his first public address after joining IUB, Prof Tamim said: "Academic excellence is important, but what truly shapes you are the experiences outside the classroom, the friendships, and the aspirations that drive you forward. I envision a future where every IUB graduate stands out and is sought after, and that can only be achieved through teamwork and your active participation in shaping this university's success.”

Mr Didar A Husain, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, commended the role of IUB’s supportive management and academic environment in enabling students to reach their full potential.

With 42.69% female enrollment during the Academic Year 2023, the higher proportion of female awardees underscores IUB’s success in providing a secure and inclusive academic setting.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to the winners.
