Jagannath University (JU) has invited applications for admission to the four-year Bachelor's (Honors) and BBA first-year programs for the 2024-2025 academic year, along with the implementation of a quota system in the admissions process.
Separate GPA requirements for each unit have been specified.
It is mentioned that students who passed their SSC or equivalent exams in 2021 or 2022, and HSC or equivalent exams in 2024, are eligible to apply.
According to the full admission notice, a quota system will be implemented at Jagannath University.
The quotas are for the children of freedom fighters, disabled persons (differently-abled – vision, speech, hearing, physical, neuro-developmental disorders, and hijra), Indigenous communities, Harijans, Dalits, athletes (BKSP), and dependents (ward) (children/spouse of university staff, faculty, and officers).
Applicants from these categories will be considered initially eligible for admission if they score at least 30 marks in the entrance exam.
There will be a 5% quota for children of freedom fighters (FFQ), 1% quota for indigenous communities (SEQ), disabled persons (PFQ), and Harijans/Dalits (HDQ).
Additionally, a maximum of two students per department will be admitted under the athlete (BKSP) and dependent (WQ) quotas.
There will also be a quota for foreign students.
Required documents or certificates for applicants under the quotas:
- Freedom Fighter's Children Quota: Photocopy of the red liberation message/government gazette and the original certificate from the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs.
- Indigenous Community Quota: Original certificate from the District Commissioner and a certificate from the community leader.
- Harijan and Dalit Quota: Certification from the District Commissioner/Sub-District Chairman/Upazila Executive Officer/Union Parishad/Ward Commissioner.
- Disability Quota: Certificate/ID issued by the Ministry of Social Welfare (the student may undergo a medical examination if needed).
- Athlete Quota: Original SSC or HSC certificate issued by BKSP.
- Dependent Quota: Certificate issued by the university administration.
Applicants under the quota system must mention the quota they are applying for during the application process.
Applicants must bring the necessary documents related to the quota on the interview day.
Foreign students who wish to apply should contact the office of the Secretary of the Central Admission Committee (Registrar's Office) from December 1, 2024, to December 15, 2024, during office hours (8am to 4pm) to complete the initial application process based on the information provided.
