The Ministry of Education has published admission policies and guidelines for all public and private educational institutions at the secondary and higher secondary levels for the 2025 academic year.
The policy reserves 5% of seats for the children of freedom fighters, but the quota for grandchildren has been omitted.
Similarly, there is no quota for the grandchildren of freedom fighters for admission to the 11th grade.
The policy states that 5% of seats will be reserved for the sons and daughters of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters.
A certified copy of the relevant documents must be attached to the application, and the original copy must be shown at the time of admission.
The admission process must be completed by properly verifying the relevant individual's freedom fighter certificate.

Last year's guidelines stated that if no children of freedom fighters or martyred freedom fighters were available, 5% of vacant seats would be reserved for their grandchildren.
This year's guidelines do not allocate any quota for the grandchildren of freedom fighters.
Additionally, the guidelines reserve 2% of seats for students with special needs, provided they meet the minimum qualifications. However, if no suitable students are found for these seats, it is stated that they will be filled from the waiting list.
According to the policy, all children staying in Lillah Boarding across the country should be admitted to the nearest institution subject to certification in order to be included in the mainstream of education. In this case, 1% seats will be reserved.

In case of admission in private schools in Dhaka metropolis, 40% seats have to be reserved for the students of the catchment area adjacent to the school. The remaining seats will be open to all.
Reservation of 40% of seats in the catchment area will not be applicable for admission of students who have passed class 5 to class 6 in the same educational institution.
According to the policy, MPO-listed educational institutions in the capital can charge a maximum admission fee of Tk5,000.
