Dhaka Education Board Chairman Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar has tendered his resignation.
He said he submitted his resignation letter to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education secretary.
Earlier on Sunday night, Tapan announced his resignation after a section of HSC examinees, who failed this year's exams, surrounded the board's office demanding re-evaluation.
The group of students, under the banner of HSC Batch 2024, entered the board premises and staged a demonstration opposing the HSC results terming it "discriminatory".
The students demanded the government publish the results by mapping all subjects.
On October 15, the results of the HSC and its equivalent examinations were published.
