The decision to postpone the 2024 HSC and equivalent exams has been revoked, but how the exam results will be released — whether through subject mapping or another method — has yet to be decided.
A meeting to address this issue is scheduled for Saturday.
Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Dhaka Board, on Thursday afternoon said: "No decision has been taken yet. It has not been decided how the evaluation will be done.”
Regarding the possibility of subject mapping for the results, he added: "A review is ongoing, but no decision has been made. The outcome will be clear after Saturday's meeting."
The HSC and equivalent examinations began on June 30 across the country with 1,450,790 candidates.
However, due to the violence surrounding the quota reform movement, exams scheduled for July 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, and August 1 and 4 were postponed. Subsequently, the Inter-Education Board released a new timetable starting from September 11.
In response, candidates demanded the cancellation of the remaining exams and requested that results be declared through subject mapping instead of conducting the postponed exams.
In the meantime, students entered the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon, demanding the cancellation of the remaining HSC and equivalent exams and calling for results to be announced through subject mapping.
