Postponed HSC exams cancelled amid student protests

Postponed HSC and equivalent examinations have been cancelled in the face of student protests.

The method for determining the results will be decided later, Prof Tapan Kumar Sarkar, chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, said on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, a large number of students gathered at the Secretariat, which houses the Ministry of Education, demanding an “auto-pass” and the cancellation of the postponed HSC exams.

The protesting students suggested that the results be based on the exams already taken, with the postponed subjects being mapped to corresponding SSC subjects to determine the final HSC results.

They chanted different slogans, and eventually their main demand was accepted, leading to the cancellation of the postponed HSC and equivalent exams.
