Undergraduate first-year classes for the academic year 2023-24 of the clustered general and science and technology (GST) universities will commence on September 1.
Students who are on the third-stage merit list are required to confirm their provisional admission through the GST website on August 19 and 20, without needing to visit the university in person.
This information was provided in a press notification on Saturday.
In a press release on August 16, the decision was announced following the 18th meeting of the GST Integrated Admission Test Committee, chaired by Professor Dr Md Anwar Hossain, vice-chancellor of Jessore University of Science and Technology and convener of the committee.
The meeting began with a prayer for the peace of the students who were martyred in the recent student movement, along with condolences to their bereaved families.
The committee also wished a speedy recovery for those injured and currently undergoing treatment.
The interim government, formed under the leadership of Nobel laureate Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus following the government's fall on August 5, was congratulated during the meeting.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) had earlier requested the completion of the remaining activities of the cluster admission test as soon as possible to avoid disruptions to the educational lives of the aspirants. The GST Integrated Admission Committee meeting was held in response to this request.
During the meeting, it was informed that students on the third-stage merit list can confirm their initial admission by paying a fee of Tk5,000 online through the GST website using their respective ID and password, from 12pm on Monday to 12pm on Tuesday.
Final admission, including the submission of necessary original documents and payment of the final admission fee, will take place once office and academic activities resume fully, as per the instructions of the respective universities.
