Educational institutions to reopen on Sunday

The Ministry of Education has issued a directive to reopen educational institutions under its jurisdiction and resume academic activities starting Sunday.

The order came on Thursday, which mentioned that the chief adviser of the interim government had instructed the reopening of educational institutions and the resumption of educational activities.

In the wake of clashes that erupted during the recent movement demanding reform of the job quota system, educational institutions were closed indefinitely on July 17 to ensure the safety of students.

Initially, classes were scheduled to resume on August 4 in all government primary schools, except in the 12 city corporations and Narsingdi municipality, but this was also postponed.

Following the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government amid the protests, a decision was made to reopen educational institutions on August 7.

However, due to the prevailing situation, regular classes have not yet resumed fully, and attendance remains low.

Notably, the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on Wednesday directed the full reopening of primary schools and the resumption of classroom activities.
