JU Pro Vice-Chancellor Mostafa Feroze resigns

Jahangirnagar University (JU) Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mohammad Mostafa Feroze has resigned from his position.

He submitted his resignation letter to President and University Chancellor Mohammed Shahabuddin via email on Sunday.

In his resignation letter, Professor Feroze mentioned: "I was appointed as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University on July 12, 2023. During my tenure, I made every effort to elevate the university to international rankings, addressing issues such as session jams and expanding educational research over the past year."

He further mentioned: "When I took charge, examination results in most departments were delayed by four to six months, and in some cases, even nine to 12 months. Through my efforts, results are now published within one to three months."

Professor Feroze also highlighted his contributions to improving the quality of education at the university, including strengthening the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), developing a world-class curriculum, establishing a Research and Innovation Cell (RIC) for student-teacher research, and providing incentives to encourage research publication.

He emphasized his commitment to enhancing the overall quality of education and research, as well as the university environment.

Professor Mohammad Mostafa Feroze earned his Bachelor's degree in 1988 and Master's degree in 1989 from the Zoology Department of Jahangirnagar University.

He joined the same department as a lecturer in 1992.

After completing his PhD from Cambridge University, he was promoted to Professor in 2005. Professor Feroze has been working on wildlife ecology, management, and conservation since 1990 and established the Wildlife Rescue Centre at Jahangirnagar University.
