Sust VC Prof Farid Uddin Ahmed resigns

The Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust), Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed, has resigned from his position.

The vice-chancellor confirmed his resignation to the media on Saturday.

He said: "I am resigning from my position for personal reasons. I have submitted my resignation letter to the honorable president."

The vice-chancellor mentioned that previously, all the provosts of the university's halls and the members of the proctorial body had resigned.

He added that those who are left will also resign.

It is known that the vice-chancellor has submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education, addressed to the chancellor's secretary.

The resignation letter states: " In accordance with the government notification dated June 30, 2021, issued by the Secondary and Higher Education Division of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, I assumed the role of Vice-Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, on August 21, 2021. Due to personal reasons, I am resigning from the position of Vice-Chancellor. I request you to accept my resignation letter."

Sust’s Acting Registrar, Fazlur Rahman, mentioned that he had heard rumors about the vice-chancellor's resignation.

Earlier, on Thursday, all members of the proctorial body, hall provosts, and assistant provosts submitted their resignation letters to the Registrar.
