Students of Maulana Bhasani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail staged a “Blockade Program” by blocking the Tangail-Nagarpur-Aricha regional road on Wednesday.
They blocked the road from 12pm to 1:30pm.
During this time, the students were found giving various slogans demanding the cancellation of quota.
Due to their blockade program, vehicular movement on the road came to a halt.
The students said that if the quota system remains, the country's talented individuals will not get jobs and will instead seek opportunities abroad, losing interest in government jobs in the country.
They allege that through the discriminatory quota system, injustice is being done to the students.
They vowed to continue their protest until this injustice is eliminated.
Earlier in the morning, students gathered for a human chain and demonstration at the university campus.
Later, they took position to Kagmari intersection on the Tangail-Aricha regional road.
