The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) is considering commencing online classes for all educational institutions instead of extending the holidays amid the ongoing heatwave, to complete the syllabus.
The ongoing vacation will end on Saturday.
No decision has been taken yet on whether holidays will be extended or classes to be reduced.
DSHE Director Professor Syed Zafar Ali said that if the heatwave continues, without stopping the classes, they are considering how to keep the students in their studies online or through assignments.
However, no decision has been made yet regarding online classes, he added.
Shah Rezwan Hayat, director general of the Directorate of Primary Education, said that no decision has been taken yet on whether the classes will open from next Sunday or if the holiday will be extended.
It will be discussed on Friday and the decision will be announced later.
If the heat wave does not subside, there are plans to start online classes, he added.
