The Dhaka University (DU) admission test for the 2023-24 session of the undergraduate program of the business studies unit will be held on Saturday.
The admission test will be held simultaneously in eight divisional cities of the country including DU from 11am to 12:30pm.
Some 37,681 aspirants will take part in it against 1,040 seats.
The admission test for the 2023-24 session of the undergraduate program of Arts, Law and Social Science admission test was held peacefully on Friday.
“The examination was conducted peacefully. No untoward incident occurred anywhere,” said Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal after visiting the examination centres.
While responding to a question from journalists, he said: “A group of fraudsters were trying to cheat the students, but there was no incident of question leakage. The main function of this gang is to extort money from our prospective students and parents who don't know about the gang. That is why they are spreading rumours of question leaks.”
“So far we have not received any complaint of being cheated by this gang. We have told everyone in the media to beware of this scam. We have also spoken to the law enforcement agencies. We hope the gang will be arrested by the law enforcement agencies very soon,” added the VC.
“We are constantly alert to prevent the cheating cycle from affecting this year's admission test in any way,” said the VC.
Help Desk for students
Dhaka University students' social, political, cultural and district or upazila organizations are assisting the students coming to take the entrance exam by setting up help desks at various points of the campus including Kalabhavan, Curzon Hall, TSC, Central Library, Faculty of Sociology, Faculty of Business Education to provide information support, and guidance to the examinees.
Earlier, in a circular signed by University unit Chhatra League President Mazharul Kabir Shayan and General Secretary Tanbir Hasan Saikat, instructions were given to stand by the admission candidates with 11 services.
Apart from the Chhatra League, other organizations such as the Islamic Regime Student Movement, Socialist Student Front, Student Union, Revolutionary Student Alliance, Student Union, and Student Federation help desk can be seen.
The assistance included- the provision of the necessary information, assistance in locating examination centres, bike service for easy movement, distribution of educational materials, provision of free food and water, provision of mobile phones, watches, bags for students, wheelchairs for disabled students, provision of rest for parents, immediate medical care. Medical camps were provided.
Moreover, the parents were seen waiting and praying for the students outside the examination centres while the students took part in the university admission test.
Dhaka University's 2023-24 academic year undergraduate admission test of the Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Science started at 11am and ended at 12:30pm on Friday.
Some 122, 279 applicants contested against 2,934 seats.
The duration of the exam was one hour and 30 minutes. Out of this, 45 minutes were allocated for the MCQ portion of 60 marks. The allotted time for the written part of 40 marks was 45 minutes.
