CES, ULAB organises workshop on critical thinking with Google cloud expansion strategist

The Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) held a workshop on Critical Thinking: Thought Leadership In Business at ULAB permanent campus with Saleh Chowdhury, cloud expansion strategist at Google, USA, and ex-Amazon, USA, as the guest speaker on Sunday.

The workshop was inaugurated by Sajid Amit, director of CES, ULAB, where he highlighted the importance of university students having this critical thinking ability before transitioning into the job market.

Later, Saleh Chowdhury commenced the session with a joint exercise on critical thinking concepts, including the importance of asking questions and exploring beyond the data. The session was attended by more than 60 students of ULAB.

During the workshop, Saleh emphasized the assessment of problem scope, defining relevant metrics, and maintaining flexibility when seeking solutions. He underscored the importance of analytical thinking, effective problem-solving, and positioning oneself as a thought leader for a successful career.

The workshop included multiple exercises, each presenting a different approach to problem-solving. The discussion encouraged a unique perspective on and questioning of various commonplace events, incorporating thought exercises such as the rationale for pursuing an undergraduate program, the metrics considered for success, and the qualities of a good graduate degree.

Saleh Chowdhury, with a background in finance and marketing, shared insights from his over three years at Google as the cloud expansion strategist and his previous experience at Amazon and Brac EPL Stock Brokerage Ltd.

The session was also attended by Edith Miriam Homonnai, chief of HR, Unicef.
