The 64th birth anniversary of noted playwright Professor Selim Al Deen was observed on the campus here yesterday in a befitting manner.
The Drama and Dramatics department of the university chalked out various programmes marking the day. The programmes include a rally, placing wreaths at the grave of Dr Al Deen and a discussion meeting highlighting the life and works of the eminent playwright.
A colorful rally led by chairman of the department Khairuzzahan Mitu was brought out from the Old Arts faculty at around 10:30 am and ended at the graveyard of the late playwright behind the central mosque of the university after parading the main streets of the campus.
JU Vice- Chancellor Professor Md Anwar Hossain, wife of Selim Al Deen Begumzadee Meherun Nessa, noted playwright Nasir Uddin Yousuf, the Gram Theater, the Dhaka Theater, Selim Al Deen Foundation, teachers and students of the university and various cultural organizations placed floral wreaths at the grave of Selim Al Deen, among others.
Selim Al- Deen was born to Mofizuddin Ahmed and Firoza Khatun in Shenerkhil village of Sonagazi Upazila of Feni on August 18, 1949.
