Dhaka University (DU) has decided to admit students under a sports quota in its undergraduate programs from the academic year 2022-2023.
The decision was taken in an admission committee meeting held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban with Vice Chancellor Prof Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair on Tuesday.
Students will be admitted under this quota with the aim of improving the standard of sports of the university, and producing quality players and skilled athletes to participate in national and international competitions.
Pro Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr Muhammad Samad, Treasurer Professor Mumtaz Uddin Ahmed, registrar, deans of various faculties, chairman of various departments, directors of various institutes and related officers were present in the meeting.
According to the decision of the meeting, candidates who want to be admitted under the sports quota should apply to the head of the admission examination unit concerned on white paper with necessary certificates from July 5-July 24.
Candidates will be scrutinized directly through oral and practical examinations by an expert committee and recommended for admission.
Those seeking admission must be below 23 years of age on the last date of application and must have the minimum educational qualification for admission in the unit concerned of Dhaka University.
