Dipu Moni: New US visa policy not going to affect students

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni has assured students that the new visa policy of the US will not pose any obstacles to aspirations of studying abroad.

Dipu Moni made the remark on Wednesday during a discussion meeting with students from Rabindra University, jointly organized by the CRI and Young Bangla at Shahjadpur Rabindra Kachari Bari, Sirajganj.

The minister said: "We want to assure students that this visa policy will not affect their educational pursuits."

However, she emphasized the importance of remaining cautious about those who boycott elections by making announcements.

Expressing her belief in democracy, Dr Dipu Moni called for protesting against those who attempt to hinder the electoral process and cause harm to people's lives.

She underlined Bangladesh's commitment to conducting free and impartial elections, assuring the public that such elections would continue to take place in the coming days.

The education minister informed the development project proposal (DPP) for the Rabindra University campus had been completed and was currently under evaluation.

She further stated that the project would take its final shape upon review by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec).

When questioned about the decrease in the number of students pursuing higher education at the National University, Dipu Moni pledged to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

She also said various diploma courses are being offered to broaden the range of educational opportunities available to students.

Dr Dipu Moni further stressed that continuous efforts are being made to enhance the overall quality of education in the country.
