The admission test for the 2022-2023 academic year for the arts, law, and social science unit of Dhaka University is underway.
The examination began at 11am on Saturday and will continue until 12:30pm, with approximately 42 students fighting for each seat.
According to information provided by the university admission committee, this year DU received 102,882 applications for 2,934 available seats in the arts, law and social science unit.
The exam is being held simultaneously in eight divisional cities across the country, including Dhaka.
For the first time, students from humanities, business and science departments will take the exam together in the arts, law and social science unit.
A total of 2,934 seats are available in this unit – 908 for science students, 1,744 for humanities students and 282 for business students.
The admission test for each unit will last one and a half hours, consisting of a 60-mark multiple-choice exam and a 40-mark written exam, except for the fine arts unit.
Students will have 45 minutes for each part of the test.
The evaluation will be based on a total of 120 marks, with 100 marks for the admission test and 20 marks based on the results of the SSC and HSC or their equivalent exams.
Examination centres in divisional cities
As in the previous year, the admission test is being conducted simultaneously in eight divisional centres, including Dhaka.
The centres are Dhaka University (DU) for Dhaka division, Chittagong University (CU) for Chittagong division, Rajshahi University (RU) for Rajshahi division, Khulna University (KU) for Khulna division, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) for Sylhet division, Begum Rokeya University (BRU) for Rangpur division, Barisal University (BU) for Barisal division, and Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) for Mymensingh division.
