The Department of General Education (GED) of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a screening of the film “One of My Old Friends” on Sunday.
It was held at ULAB's main campus and commenced with a welcome speech by the Head of the Department Professor Dr Shahnaj Husne Jahan, reads a press release issued on Tuesday.
In her speech, she highlighted the importance of the film and its various aspects.
Students and faculty members enjoyed the BCTI-produced 30-minute film.
Swajan Majhi, the director of this film, is a national award-winning filmmaker. He obtained his Filmmaking PGD from Bangladesh Cinema and Television Institute (BCTI).
The director stated that presently there is a silent trace of few Jewish people in ever-changing Bangladesh without any official record. Even fifty years ago, this infinitesimal group had a prominent presence within the variegated society of East Bengal.
He said that “One of My Old Friends” is a film-ode in search of these unknown and untold people.
Here reality develops with the blend of fact and fiction. The students and faculties from several disciplines of ULAB participated in this seminar. The seminar came to end with a question-answer session and lively discussion.
