JnU students give 5-day ultimatum to withdraw cluster admission

The students of Jagannath University (JnU) gave a five-day ultimatum to the university authorities to withdraw the cluster admission system.

A human chain was formed in this regard in front of the Shaheed Minar of the university demanding the withdrawal of the cluster admission process. Later the memorandum was given to the Vice-Chancellor of the University.

One of the protesting students said: "Jagannath University has achieved many milestones in a very short span of time. In the academic year 2018-19, Jagannath University added written questions for the first time, and in the academic year 2019-20, the exam was conducted entirely with written questions. JnU has lost its individuality after being added to the cluster system."

This new admission process is causing session gaps. While students of Jagannath University could not complete the admission process, Dhaka University, Rajshahi University are completing a semester.

AKM Rakib, student of Botany Department, said: "When our classes just have started that time the other two universities in Dhaka already finished an entire semester. The long admission process has increased the suffering of the students and lowered the quality of the university. We are giving a five-day ultimatum to the university administration to come out of the cluster system.

When asked about the memorandum, Vice-Chancellor Md Imdadul Haque said: “It is a matter of academic council. All decisions will be made in the academic council.
