Blue panel bags victory in DU Senate polls

The Awami League-backed Blue teachers' panel of Dhaka University has bagged victory in the Senate election.

The poll was arranged at the university's Nawab Ali Chowdhury senate building at 10am on Tuesday.

Elected teacher representatives of Dhaka University Syndicate are Dr Mohammad Masudur Rahman as the hall provost, Professor Dr Nijamul Hoque Bhuiyan as the representative of professors, Abu Hossen Mohammad Ahsan of Public Administration Department as associate professor, Mohammad Sharif Ul Islam as assistant professor, Dr Ismat Rahman of Computer Science and Technology Department as associate professor of the academic council, ASM Manjur Al Hossain of Medicine Technology Department as the representative of lecturer, and Dr Mohammad Shafikul Islam of Applied Mathematics Department became the elected member of the finance committee of the Syndicate.

The results were published around 3pm and all the elected members were from the Awami League-supported Blue panel.

DU Treasurer Prof Momtaz Uddin was in charge of the election commission and he declared the results.

This committee will be valid for holding office for the next two years but this committee can continue in the office till their successors are elected or are nominated and enter the office, Dhaka University Ordinance, 1972 says.

In the category of associate professors, the six teacher representatives of the academic council are Ismat Rahman of Computer Science and Engineering Department, Associate Professor of Philosophy Department Mrs Mandira Chowdhury, Associate Professor of the Institute of Modern Language  Bipul Chandra Debnath, Assistant Professor/Lecturer Category Assistant Professor of Medicine Technology Department Dr ASM. Manjur Al Hossain, Assistant Professor of Law Department ABM Ashrafuzzaman and Lecturer of Meteorological Science Department Momin Islam.
