All education boards have recommended not to hold the Junior School Certificate (JSC) and its equivalent Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations this year.
The proposal was submitted to the education ministry in a recent meeting, Dhaka Education Board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar told the media on Sunday.
“However, if the government decides to hold the JSC-JDC examination, we will take the necessary steps to conduct it,” he added.
According to him, eighth-grade students will be given certificates through class assessments similar to the last two years.
The two major public examinations---SSC and HSC--- are scheduled to be held on June 19 and August 22 respectively.
Given that it will be the end of October by the time the two exams end, it will be difficult to hold the tests for around three million students in November.
Moreover, there will be no JSC or JDC exams in the new curriculum that will come into effect soon.
On April 12, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni also hinted that the examinations may not be held this year.
She said that given that the boars will be busy with the SSC and HSC exam results, it will be difficult to hold the JSC, and JDC exams this year.
