Prof Dr HM Jahirul Haque appointed as vice chancellor of CUB

President M Abdul Hamid, who is the chancellor of universities in the country, has appointed Fulbright Scholar Prof Dr HM Jahirul Haque as the vice chancellor (VC) of Canadian University of Bangladesh (CUB).

Prior to his appointment as the VC on Thursday, he served as the senior advisor to the Board of Trustees of CUB for a period of almost one year, said a press release.

Prof Jahirul Haque previously served as pro-VC from 2013-2017, and as VC at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) from 2017 to 2021.

Prof Jahirul Haque also earned the Award of Leadership Excellence from the Business and Applied Sciences Academy of North America (Basana) in 2019.

He earned his PhD in Engineering from one of the most renowned universities in Ukraine, Kharkiv State Technical University of Radio Electronics, in 2001.

Prof Jahirul Haque completed his graduation and post-graduation from Cherkasy State Technological University with Masters of Technical Sciences (System Engineering) in 1995. He also started his teaching career there.

Prof Jahirul has a strong track record in academics and administration along with a reputation for being an innovative, efficient, and visionary leader.

He has numerous publications on computer and engineering knowledge, published in both national- and internationally-recognized journals.

His contribution to education and research is globally well recognized.

Prof Jahirul Haque’s current mission is to lead CUB to its next level of success, said the press release.
