The application fee for admission tests at Dhaka University for the academic session 2021-22 has been increased from Tk650 to Tk1,000.
Applicants can apply for the entry test from April 20 to May 11.
The decision was taken in a dean’s committee meeting held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building on Wednesday.
The fee was Tk350 until 2018-19 session. The authorities hiked the fees to Tk450 in 2019-20 session, and to Tk650 in 2020-21.
Vice Chancellor Md Akhtaruzzaman, however, said that the university does not intend to make a profit from the fees. Rather it is trying to meet the costs of holding admission tests in various cities. He further went on to say that costs may exceed the collection from application fees.
The admission tests of the university will begin on June 3 with “Ga” unit enrolment test. “Kha” unit intake test will be held on June 4 (Saturday). The “Ka” unit entry test will be held on June 10 and “Gha” unit test on June 11.

Following the practice of previous years, DU authorities have decided to take the exams in divisional cities of the country to reduce the suffering of students and parents.
Asked about easing the conditions of GPA for the applicants, DU Pro VC ASM Maksud Kamal said: "From our previous experiences we came to know that GPA does not necessarily prove the excellence of a student. There are lots of instances which show that low GPA achievers obtained better score than higher GPA achievers in the admission test exam."
