Primeasia University researchers develop anti-diabetic tea

A research team of Primeasia University has been successful in developing a blended anti-diabetic tea.

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Co-operation (COMSTECH) recently commended the researchers for developing anti-diabetic tea, said a press release on Wednesday.

The study is being carried out under the supervision of Prof Dr Hafizur Rahman of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Primeasia University.

Dr Rahman recently attended the 15th International Symposium on Natural Product Chemistry, held at the ICCBS International Center, University of Karachi, Pakistan as part of evaluating the innovation.

He said that there might be collaborative research to make this blended anti-diabetic tea from a laboratory in order to cater to a large number of diabetic subjects in Asian countries.

Dr Rahman and his team worked for the last two years on developing a blended tea containing five to six nutritional herbs commonly used as food and spices in Bangladesh.

This blended green tea contains high-quality antioxidants that boost immunity and prevent oxidative damage, they said.
