Progressive Students Alliance, a platform of 11 leftist student fronts, has announced that it will besiege the Education Ministry to protest the public exam question paper leaks.
They will surround the ministry on February 25 demanding resignation of the minister who has ‘utterly failed’ to prevent the continued question paper leaks, the platforms’ leaders announced at a press briefing held at Dhaka University on Sunday.
Alliance Coordinator Golam Mostofa, also the president of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation, said they were demanding exemplary punishment for those responsible, who involved with the crimes and those in the education sector who were taking bribes to destroy education.
They further said that question paper leaks had become an every day occurrence as almost all questions of public exams were available in Internet hours before the exams and none of the culprits were punished recently. Offenders feel that their wrongdoing can go unpunished.
They also alleged that a nexus between government employees, coaching centres, guidebook businesses, politicians and some teachers were masterminding the question paper leaks, but the authorities do not appear to be sincere or serious about countering them.
PSA will hold protest rallies across the country on February 14 to press home their three point charter of demands.
President of central Chhatra Union GM Zilani Shuvo, Chhatra Front (Marxists) President Naima Khaled Monika, Chhatra Front president Imran Habib Rummon, Biplobi Chhatra Moitri’s president Iqbal Kabir, joint-convener of Chhatra Oikyya Forum Sarkar Al Imran also attended the press conference among others.
