A panel from Awami League-led factions got majority seats in the registered graduates’ representative election, held after 19 years, in Jahangirnagar University's Senate.
After calculating the votes, the returning officer and JU Treasurer Professor Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq - with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor - has announced the primary results early Sunday.
Out of 25 seats, one AL-backed panel got 18 seats, another got one - whereas the BNP-backed panel got six seats.
None of the other 44 independent candidates got any seat in the election.
Sheikh Md Monzurul Huq said: "If no one submits any written complaint against the primary results within three working days, then it will be considered as the final outcome."
The registered graduate representatives are the highest administrative authority of the university.
Earlier, the voting session begun from 9am till 4pm on Saturday.
The last registered graduates’ representative election was held on April 26, 1998.
