100 madrasas running defying law in Bogra

According to sources, Bogra Cadet International Madrasa in Rahmannagar in the town, Darul Hekma Cadet Madrasa in Thhanthhonia area, Ikra Cadet Madrasa in PTI intersection, Darun Ehsan Cadet Madrasa, A’mirul Ummah International Cadet Madrasa and Hazrat Shah International Madrasa in Nishindadara area have been operated without permission. These institutions are being operated in rented houses and there are no playground and other facilities for the students. Gopal Chandra Sarkar, officer-in-charge of the district education office, said there was no person officially who could supervise those institutions. Maolana Abubakar Siddique, principal of Bogra Cadet International Madrasa said he had established the institution few years ago. Bangla, English, Arabic and Computer are taught at the madrasa. He said he had not got permission to run the madrasa and there were more than 100 madrasas without permission. When this correspondent visited several areas of the district, he found maximum institutions have no educational structure. Hazrat Shah International Madrasa in Nishindadara area is being operated on the ground floor by making bamboo fence. Some students were found busy swiping the floor. A student of the madarasa has to pay Tk1500 as monthly tuition fee and a residential student has to pay 1500 more. When contacted,  Kamrul Islam, owner of the madrasa also said they took Tk800 as monthly fee from a student. They tkae the money as they are teaching Bangla and English along with Arabic. When he was asked about the syllabuses of several classes, he could not reply. He had no permission to run the institution, he admitted. Locals and some guardians alleged that the teachers of the madrasa tortured the students inhumanly  and they were forced to do some not related with curriculum. The picture of all madrasas in the district was same, they claimed. A section of people urged the local administration to supervise the institutions. Gopal Chandra said if he got any written allegations, he would take steps.
